Theme: Our wedding was on December 30, just 5 days after Christmas and I wanted to embrace the time of year. Our venue fit this theme perfectly, with gorgeous cafe lights strung across the barn, a huge Christmas tree that thankfully fit into our color scheme, and snow outside.

Color Pallet: Our wedding colors went with the holidays; deep burgundy, light blush, white, and pops of green found in the flowers. The groomsmen wore black suits with black bow-ties, and my bridesmaids wore white dresses. Timeless pieces were extremely important to me.

Little White Dress: This was one of the most exciting parts of the whole wedding! I had the opportunity to design my own dress. Through a friend, I found the most talented designer in Salt Lake City. I brought my inspiration to Penelope and together we designed my perfect dress. Penelope just got me. My first visit, she drew up my dress. I still have the mock-up! It is so sentimental. That first visit we picked out the laces and chiffon. I came back for 3 more fittings, and within a couple months the dress was complete. The dress could not have been more perfect. When I went to my last fitting I brought my parents with me (up until then, my sister accompanied me) and their mouths dropped when I walked out of the dressing room. It was a magical moment for us all!

Florals: The main flowers throughout my bouquet, my bridesmaids bouquets, and table flowers were dahlias, anemones, and garden roses. I wanted to tie in the color green to add to the holiday theme, so the tables were flooded with beautiful greenery. I have always had a love for flowers, so this was such an important aspect of the wedding. The florists I worked with worked hard to make sure everything was perfect!

Details: My favorite wedding detail had to be the center of attention at our reception – the marquee letters! I so badly wanted “A & I” in big marquee letters, but when I shopped around it was just too expensive. Everything was out of my budget! I considered a couple DIY tutorials but didn’t have the tools necessary. My dad reached out to his handy-man friend, who made the marquee letters within a couple days. I was so excited to have these that we made them the center of attention at our reception. They turned out gorgeous in photos and they are now my favorite detail in our home!

First Dance: One of my best friends growing up is married to a wedding singer. How amazing is that?! He graciously sang the song for our first dance, and it was a moment I will forever treasure. Patrick Meek sang “Tenerife Sea” by Ed Sheeran. The song is significant to Adam and I. We heard this song while we were dating and always slow danced to it in my apartment kitchen. We still slow dance to it after I do the dishes.

Favorite Moment: My favorite moment the day of our wedding was right after our ceremony. We had a couple hours in between the ceremony and reception, so we went out to lunch just the two of us. Your wedding day is honestly a blur because typically you’re so rushed going from event to event, talking to friends and family, and dancing the night away. We had a short amount of time to be together for the first time as husband and wife before the reception. It was a pretty surreal moment!

Honeymoon: Instead of flying out of the country, Adam and I decided to stay low-key and go to Newport Beach, California. Instead of feeling the pressure of an extravagant honeymoon, we wanted to focus on what really mattered: spending quality time together! We had so much fun exploring and relaxing together. I wouldn’t change it for anything.
